I'm on the Premium plan - or was. Suddenly nd without warning they have completely dsiabled my web site - chrisbrady.itgo.com - I have tried to login to update the billing info. and the system even blocks that. I've emailed Billing, and Info., and Customer Service - but NO response - none, zero, zilch, sfa. I can't phone the 1-800 no. 'cos it would cost me big time from the UK. It appears that my subscription ran out - but no-one emailed me in advance to warn me, no-one sent me an invoice, no-one billed me for a renewal, no-one contacted me to say that my renewal was overdue. I havenow lost a HUGE and popular site. In the past I have tried to pre-empt such a situation and wanted to take out a 10 year membership. But Freeservers insisted that they only offer one year memberships. Doh!! Now I hear that they are India. Time to mnove my web site to a more professional ISP in the UK. CJB.

Well, it appears that this company has moved to India and now you can't get any real help at all when you call for support. We were using one of their subdomains (s5.com to be exact) and suddenly our website (which we were paying for) disappeared. We called them and got someone in India that couldn't speak English very well and who could not understand English at all. Got no real answers after calling several times. My site has been down now for several days and i am loosing business and will become lost in the search engine rankings if they should spider the website and not find it..... I don't suggest this hosing company at all...they are really bad.....

I started a website on 8/16/08 and enjoyed the 'no banners' for 7 days free so much that I chose to buy the next up package for $4.95 a month before the 7 days was completed. Well, $4.95 a month is right, alright, but they didn't say it was all to be paid in advance, so it really cost $59.40. THEN, the guy on the phone didn't ask what name was on my credit card, he just took the name I gave him when I said hello, my name is.....and that's the name he put on the credit card. of course, my credit card company refused the charge because the name was missing the MIDDLE INITIAL.
Okay, so it got fixed and resubmitted, and my website was turned back on. No, wait, they turned it off, saying the credit card had a problem with it, and I said no it didn't, that I had a receipt from them that it went through, which it had, according to my credit card company. So, they turned it back on. No wait, they turned it off, I don't know how many times in one month they've turned it off then back on, and now it's off and I'm not going to fight them anymore over the website, I'm now fighting to get my money back! Now they are accusing me of ABUSING MY CREDIT CARD! Can you believe that? Their reason is "AUTH ABUSE", in their words. I can't believe it! So, you know what, I told them to SHOVE IT!
Those people, if they are, in fact, in India, don't understand our way of doing things and that how in the heck could I abuse my own credit card? They have the money, so what do they care. But, I've contacted my credit card company and put the matter into dispute, so now the credit card company will be after them to get the money back. When I asked for the money back they said they would have someone contact me within 2 hours. Right. Think that happened? No.
Read a review that said this is the server from Hell. BELIEVE IT!

I have had my web pages on Freeservers for since the beginning of time.. they have moved the customer service to India.. you can't get anything done on a timely manner....
I pay $23.00 a month for the hosting but have spent over 2 hours on the phone with them in the last month alone.... they have cost me over $300 in my own time, lost revenue and much aggrevation.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND FREESERVERS to anyone. I am in the process of trying to find another HOST to move to.
FREESERVERS might want to get their customer service back and fix their system.
Also.. my site has been shut down twice in the last month because their accounting office does not know how to keep track of payments. I paid twice in 15 days for my site and they still say the payments have not been made.
I guess you can tell my frustration.

I have had a site on freeservers since 1999. I started out with the basic plan without banners but went to the lowest value plan without banners since it was the same service at a lower cost. Took me a year to find this out. Had no problems other than of my own making until a year or so ago, when they either expanded or were bought out by a bigger company. Problems started arise but eventually were fixed, so couldn't complain too much. However, as of last week (May 13, 2008) they have been having problems with their email servers and I have been unable to get my student's emails ever since. I finally was able to access via their website today (5/20) and it appears my mailbox is now gone with all saved and new emails also vanished. Que lastima. After all these years (almost a decade!) they have frustrated me to the point where I now must change my host. I'm pretty easy going, so that says alot.

I have a website through Freeservers for over 6 years. I don't build or edit my site through Freeservers. I built it in Dreamweaver and used CuteFTP to upload it to the internet. My complaint is with the email. I have not been able to access my email mailboxes for 3 days.
If I get to the manage mailbox section of their site at all I don't even have mailboxes! The two I had set up are gone along with my 200 or so emails. I was expecting some important emails and am not happy about this. I called three times and was told they were working on the problem. They are not "open" on the weekend. I have been getting the following message:Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request, or WARNING: Internal Module Compilation Failure!
Does anyone know what this means?

I have had 2 websites hosted with Freeservers for over 5 years which worked perfectly. For the last 3-4 weeks I have no smtp email, and I can not find any contact phone number on their website (edit .. I think it may be 1 800 396 1999 if anyone needs it). Before they had phenomenal telephone customer support. Now there is NONE. There has been no response to any support emails.
Imap email is working fine, as is the webmail option, but no smtp relay.

had this company hosting my site till one day someone called in and they let someone move my site to another server. I got in contact with the owner mark and he pretty much passed me off to a idiot who cannot help me recover my site. I am still waiting to hear from them and they seemed to now move their support to india. do not recommend!!!

Absolutely terrible. Customer service says evertything is a technical problem. Paid to have ads removed and after a month they're still there, plus many web pages using javascript won't load or display properly. Used to be a decent company. Now just a complete mess. Not recommended at all, period.

Freeservers.com was great when I started with them. Phone support was there without long waits and things worked well. Something changed. Even though my plan qualifies for phone support I CANNOT find a phone number on the site. No one answers my emails and some of the help pages will not load in my browser - so I have no help. As soon as I can find another hosting site I'm moving my 3 websites.

Very poor. My e-mail has been down now for two weeks. Even their web mail interfaces don't work.
Customer service is pretty much non-existent.
When you call their main number 801-437-6000 you drop into a loop that apologizes that "we're having system issues."
Yeah, I guess. They are apparently ALWAYS having system issues.

Beautiful! I just bought their hosting for a domain name I bought, and I can't even get in to edit the damn thing.
No one has answered my email about the problem yet, and I'm pretty pissed off right now.
When you go to log into your account, all it says is
WELCOME TO YOUR FUTURE WEB SITE CREATOR
You have not yet published your website.
Big freakin surprise, I can't even edit it, let alone publish it.
Thats ALL that's on the screen once you log in, no clickable links, no nothing.
Go back, and there's just the log in screen again. No links to edit anything, no help at all, their site map looks like a half-assed /html/blahblahblah/ itemized crap screen with no FAQ's.
I bought it a week ago, and I'm wishing I would have just gone with some other server who actually practices what they preach.
Don't waste your money!

I have two sites hosted at Freeservers. One uses their Value Plan, the other Value Plus. I also have a webpage on their banner supported server. Well, I won't give them as bad of a review as others, but I can't give a great review, either. A lot of downtime (two 5-10 minute periods in the past month). So/so html editors. However, I had more problems over at Yahoo, and their customer support, in my experience, is far wirse than Freeservers. Both have decent tutorials for those unfamiliar with html. I did not encounter the billing problems with Freeservers than other reviewers had, likely because they appear to no longer bill monthly and charge annually. They have taken from my account the amount they advertise. But, technically, my big beef is their servers are seemingly unreliable, which is a sin for the company which also runs Netzero (although dialup is history, thank heaven). Poor server response makes a website look shoddy to it's visitors and that, to me, is the biggest downside of Freeserves/United.

My father had free hosting with freeservers, in 2001 he decided to pay for the most basic pack that includes 50 mb and no ads. About the service itself there are no complaints, everything that he needed worked well, but his site is plain HTML. However the financial part is what I'm trying to warn you about.
In 2006 I grew up to discover and clean all the mess: since the beginning (2001) they took of $5/month instead of $3. Now at 2006 they started to take $6/month. Just like that, without any notice and explanation.
This time he mailed them asking for explanation, however all they wrote back was "we do not disclose financial information by mail". Later I looked for other reviews of freeservers and it occurs that it's their auto-responce to any financial question or request :-\
Since he pays by VISA, he can't do anything against this fraud, and now we'll have to cancel his VISA card so these freeserers scammers won't be able to charge him again >:-(]
Now in addition to cancelling the VISA card he tried to just close the account at freeservers, but the only responce he got was "For protection to all our customers, your request cannot be made via email" and a phone number. I read in a review by some guy that they do it on purpose and never answer the phone. The number is 1801-437-6000, I'm not gonna try because I'm not from US.
Bottom line: Stay away, or use the free account with banners !

I registered for the "Value Plus" plan. I've had nothing but problems with Freeservers. Email exchanges are the worst. It takes a few days to a week for them to respond and I've had occasions where I'd get nonsense information from them when I asked questions like why a link that should work in my control panel goes to a 404 page. In fact, in a recent email conversation in which I received two responses, both responses told me to get the link to work, I have to click on it! I asked them to forward my email to someone who can actually help me and it's been days and I haven't received a response back yet.
In addition, it's often hard to access via FTP and the features that actually work aren't advanced enough for good and efficient web site creation, and their control panel is confusing, with links that go nowhere and an oddly structured configuration. You don't get what you should for what you pay for, either.
In my opinion, these people aren't fit to run a hosting service. I have bluehost.com hosting another site though and I'm very pleased with them.

We purchased the cheap hosting plan. Our site was up for three days and they disable it. We tried several times to contact support phone desk without success until fifth try, when they told us about a credit card problem.
After two calls to their billing department without answer, three emails to info@freeservers.com and two to abuse@freeservers.com without any answer, we migrated to computinghost.com, which works very well so far.
